Australian Unions have launched a representative poll for workers to have their say on their experiences at work and how their employer approaches productivity.

The Workplace Truths survey launched this week, asks workers to relate their current experiences of work, as well as past experiences, to ensure the union movement can take these views into the Productivity Roundtable in August. 

The survey covers a range of workplace issues, including technological changes and
AI, collaboration and conflict at work, and whether supervisors and managers have the skills and ability
to get the best out of their teams.

The survey will result in a snapshot of workers’ attitudes to job security, workloads, training
opportunities and investment by their employers in the tools, equipment or the systems needed to carry
out their work efficiently.

It will also examine workers’ perspectives on the impact of work on their physical and mental health,
and whether they work in an environment that motivates them to do their best work.

“Australian Unions will bring the real world experiences of working people to the Roundtable. For too
long, the discussion on productivity has been dominated by economic models and concepts that are
often out of step with real life and what actually happens in workplaces across Australia," said ACTU Secretary Sally McManus.
